Abby’s circuitous route to becoming a yoga teacher was seemingly random yet full of connected pivots. Abby has worked at museums, magazines, nonprofits and corporations in positions that all required diplomacy, kindness and a strong yet flexible backbone. She is hyper-organized, client-driven and knowledge-based. She works with each student to tailor yoga to their needs, ability and body. Abby is extremely grateful to her YOGA206 clients whom are committed to yoga as a way to increase muscle and bone strength, improve balance and everyday functionality.
Does Abby live in a 206 area code? Nope, although with virtual technology she can teach yoga to those who live in the 206 area. 206 is for the 206 bones in the human body, and her initial focus on yoga and osteoporosis.
Why would Abby focus on yoga for bone strength? Upon her research on osteoporosis and medical conditions of the aging population, she became fascinated with how the body changes as it ages. Flash forward and she has expanded her range to MS, arthritis and dementia.
Yoga as a weight bearing exercise strengthens and/or stretches our bones, muscles, ligaments and joints as a moving meditation of body and breath. Yoga as preventative medicine.
Abby also runs the Contract house (husband, two children and ever-changing animals: rabbits, tortoises and lizards), plays piano, travels to far and wide locations and reads — for fun — nutrition textbooks and cookbooks. Somethings always cooking at the Contract house.
